Speed Mentoring
Connecting librarians and those new to the profession in five minute increments
Speed Mentoring
hosted by the Connecticut Library Association Career Development Committee
SIGN UP now for a fast-paced networking activity called Speed Mentoring where librarians, students, and those new to the profession get to talk about all aspects of librarianship! Meet Academic Librarians, Archivists, Business Librarians, Cataloguers, Children's Librarians, Directors, Law Librarians, Medical Librarians,Public Librarians, Reference Librarians, Young Adult Librarians, and others passionate about libraries and information services.
HOW does it work? Each librarian mentor will be paired with a student. After brief introductions the pair will talk about any aspect of librarianship that interests them for five minutes. Then the students will rotate to the next mentor and continue this process until they have spoken with all of the mentors. It is kind of like speed dating, except the focus here is building professional relationships to help students with their career goals, and for mentors to exchange ideas and address concerns from those new to the profession.
